What it is
One of the world's largest sources of funding exclusively for graduate women, the AAUW Educational Foundation supports aspiring scholars around the globe, teachers and activists in local communities, women at critical stages of their careers, and those pursuing professions where women are underrepresented.
What it does
Foundation fellowships have helped more than 6,500 women earn advanced degrees. Foundation funds further professional careers, sponsor groundbreaking research, mentor younger women and girls and foster broad-scale social change here and abroad.
The Education Foundation funds the following projects and programs:
Vital Community Action Projects
Symposia, Roundtables, and Forums
How you can help
Today the Educational Foundation is the largest endowment in the world providing support exclusively to women. Your contributions resulted in bequests of nearly $3.4 million in 2003.

Sources of funding
The Foundation includes several sources of funding. The first three listed below are endowments. When these fellowships are established no grants are provided until they become stipend producing. After they reach that designated dollar amount, only the interest income is awarded so that the fund is available in perpetuity.
American Fellowships and International Fellowships initiated after July 1, 2004, require $200,000 to be stipend producing. These programs help women scholars from this country and around the globe pursue studies that contribute to their professions and their communities. Foundation fellows help shape the society we live in, now and for the future.
Giving to Research & Project Grant endowments allows for fellowships to be awarded for Selected Professions, Career Development, and Community Action Grants. R&P endowments initiated after July 1, 2004, require $75,000 to be stipend producing.
Eleanor Roosevelt Fund
The AAUW Educational Foundation's Eleanor Roosevelt Fund for Women and Girls supports groundbreaking research that has changed the way scholars, policy-makers, and the general public think about the experiences and needs of girls and women.
Over the past decade, AAUW Educational Foundation has taken the lead in producing cutting-edge research on women and girls and on equity in education. This research has brought public awareness to the differences in the quality and quantity of education among girls and boys, as well as ensuring that girls are prepared in an increasingly technological world.
