Branch Activism

Former Ohio President Gail Conrad urged branches to become activists for women’s issues like Eleanor Roosevelt, a woman she portrays as part of the Toledo Branch’s “Women in History” project.

“The battle for the individual rights of women is one of long standing, and none of us should countenance anything which undermines it,” Mrs. Roosevelt said.

It is an admonition that underlies the AAUW mission.  Our members are aware that progress in the arena of women’s issues has been uneven, and that persistence is necessary.
