Branch Activism - Lobbying

Organizing|Becoming Informed|Planning Projects|Lobbying|Recognizing Accomplishments

Branches may also get involved in lobbying their local legislators using our “How to Lobby” sheet as a guide, using the suggestions offered in the Letter Corps section, and joining the state level Lobby Corps.

Branches are encouraged to start Public Policy Interest Groups to provide a way for members who are intensely interested in public policy to focus their activism. Interest groups can accept non-members and even persons who do not qualify for AAUW membership, which allows us to involve a broader group of women in working for our issues. Interest groups that adopt the approach of doing projects may have more success attracting younger members, who prefer the active to the passive approach.

This site offers a page to recognize the accomplishments of branch activists.
