Action Plan
In addition to the voucher and charter school programs, several bills described in the “Other Bills” section will significantly impact public education in Ohio. Branches interested in public education should consider devoting time in the coming year to studying these programs and/or one or all of these bills. This could be done by scheduling knowledgeable speakers or by starting a study group to investigate the topic. Study groups can then later give a branch program to share their findings. Branches with an activist orientation may go further into the bills, develop conclusions about the impact these bills may have, and share their views with their legislators, the governor, the State Board of Education and their fellow citizens through forums and letters to the editor. With a new governor in Columbus, our opinions may receive greater consideration than they have in the past.
