State Activism - Lobbying
Ohio Issues/Legislation | Lobbying | Newsletter Articles | Ohio Projects
Considerable power has devolved to states in the past 30 years, and actions of state legislators have often proceeded under the radar because major newspapers have at the same time reduced their coverage of state politics. Therefore, AAUW/Ohio is working to develop a program that will involve members in tracking and responding to actions by state government officials related to the AAUW Public Policy Program. These have tended to be primarily in the areas of education and reproductive freedom.
AAUW/Ohio is currently involved in lobbying state legislators in two ways—through a Lobby Corps conducted in cooperation with the League of Women Voters Ohio and through a Letter Corps that seeks to involve Ohio members in responding to legislators when issues concerning the AAUW Public Policy Program are being considered in the Ohio Legislature.
